How to pitch an indie or rock playlist curator

Indie and rock curators are often fans first. Many run small playlists with listeners who actually save songs. They care about songwriting and a story more than a perfect master, so a well-written song recorded at home still has a chance.

Say who you sound like. "For fans of" two or three bands is the quickest way to tell a curator where your song fits. Pick bands their playlist already features. Mention your city and scene if it matters to the sound.

Playlists here split by mood and era: indie pop, shoegaze, garage rock, post-punk, slowcore, alternative. Pitch the right one. A loud guitar track in a soft indie-folk playlist gets skipped.

Add one line about the song. What it is about, how you recorded it, why it matters to you. Indie curators read those lines. Keep the rest short, link the Spotify track and follow up once. Many indie curators also write blogs or zines, so ask if they cover new releases.
