How to pitch a hip-hop or trap label

Hip-hop labels sign artists, not single tracks. Before they listen to a demo, they look at what you already built: released songs, streams, socials and whether people show up for you. Send a link to your released catalogue plus one unreleased song you think is your best.

Be honest with numbers. Monthly listeners, top cities, a video that did well, a local show you sold out. One line of real traction beats a page of hype. Labels check, and inflated or bought numbers end the conversation.

Know what you want. Indie hip-hop labels offer anything from a single deal or distribution to a full artist deal. Say which you are open to. Clear features and samples before you pitch, because a song with an unsigned feature or an uncleared loop can not come out.

If you are a producer, not a rapper, pitch the label's A&R with a short beat tape for their artists, not as an artist demo. Follow up once after two weeks with something new, like a release or a video.
