Techno record labels accepting demos

How to pitch a techno label

Techno labels sign tracks DJs can play. Send the extended mix with a clean intro and outro, not a radio edit. A label owner will often skip straight to the main section and then to the break, so make sure both work on a big system.

Know which corner of techno the label lives in. Hypnotic, raw, peak-time, industrial and melodic techno are different worlds, and many labels release only one of them. Open their last three releases and name one of them in your email. "My track sits between your last two EPs" tells the label you listened. "Check out my techno" does not.

Many techno labels are run by one DJ who listens to demos at night between gigs. Keep the email to five lines with one private link. If a known DJ already plays your track, say who and where. That is the strongest signal you can give.

Techno labels plan their schedule months ahead. Do not pitch a track you want out next month. A clean premaster is fine for a demo. If they sign it, they will ask for the final files.
